(Note: This is the only page of Sydney pictures where the images are 35mm film prints that I scanned. The rest of the pages are pictures straight from our digital camera.) I have no idea what this bird is, but it's funny looking. I saw a couple roaming free at the zoo, and one wandering around downtown Sydney near the ferry terminal. They seem to hang out in areas where you also find seagulls. Here is one of the two dingos. They never came close enough to the front of the enclosure for me to get a very good picture. These pelicans were pretty funny. A zoo volunteer who saw me leaning over to take pictures of the pelicans stopped and told me some things about several of the birds. She said that Australia has the largest pelicans in the world. Standing straight up normally, I think these guys were about 2 1/2 feet tall. The koalas were very cute, especially the baby clinging to mama's back. They were very interested when the keeper came in and started putting out branches of leaves in some holders attached to the trees. The first one below is eyeing the keeper preparing the food. OK, now I think THIS is a wallaby, I guess the one on the previous page must have been a kangaroo after all. Cute... This rhinoceros (either a baby or some small-sized rhino species, I'm not sure which) kept vigorously rubbing its face on this big log, then running in a small circle, then rubbing its face again... I've never seen a rhinoceros so active!
