This is looking down from the top of the tram ride we took at Heavenly
ski area. It was really cool. The lake and surrounding area
are at roughly 6,200 feet, and the tram takes you half-way up the mountains
near the lake to around 8,200 feet. From there there's a short but
steep hiking trail which goes up to over 9,000 feet.

This is a view of the lake and the city of South Lake Tahoe from the
top of the tram.

A local resident who was curious about us.

The hill in the distance here is the area where we went horseback riding.
This is a few miles from Lake Tahoe, near the Squaw Valley ski area.
It was a 2 hour guided trail ride, and was a lot of fun. We just
walked most of the time, with a few short trots, but the terrain was very
rugged and very beautiful.
